The Sunrise Camel Ride in Merzouga begins early in the morning, taking approximately half an hour to reach the Erg Chebbi sand dunes on camelback. After arriving, we leave the camels behind to trek up to the highest dune of Merzouga. If you haven’t yet combined a camel ride with camping in the desert, this is your chance to experience the magic of traversing the golden sand dunes on a camel. You’ll journey deep into the heart of the desert, witnessing the mesmerizing beauty of the dunes as they shift in light and shadow during the morning’s colorful sunrise. Our camel ride begins at dawn, and we’ll meet you at our guesthouse or in front of your riad or hotel in the desert at least one hour before sunrise. Depending on the timing of the sunrise, we’ll embark on a thrilling camel ride across the orange sands of Erg Chebbi. Upon reaching the spot where we leave the camels, you’ll hike approximately 80 meters to the top of the highest dune. For those wishing to enjoy a panoramic view of the rising sun, the climb to the top will take about 15 additional minutes. Alternatively, those who prefer to stay below can savor the beauty of the sunrise from the camel’s resting area, surrounded by the stunning landscape.
