Here, we’ll stop for lunch and explore the impressive historical walls of the medina, including Bab el Mansour and the Moulay Ismail tomb. After visiting Meknes, we will continue directly to Fes for an overnight stay.
Today, enjoy a guided tour to discover the medina and the famous souks of Fes. The narrow cobbled streets are filled with ancient mosques and towering green-glazed minarets, showcasing unique Andalusian architecture. We’ll ensure visits to all culturally and historically significant sites, including the renowned Al Qaraouine University. The tour will also include a visit to the tanneries and a ceramic cooperative to see traditional Moroccan crafts. You’ll overnight at a local hotel or riad.
We will pick you up from your hotel or riad and drive south to Azrou, passing through Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco. In the Middle Atlas Mountains, we’ll stop at the cedar forest to take captivating photos with the Barbary Apes. Continuing through the Atlas Mountains, we’ll enjoy the scenic landscapes of Midelt. After lunch, we’ll drive through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud and finally reach Merzouga for an overnight stay at a local hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll start exploring the Merzouga area, visiting a village of people originally from Mali to enjoy their music and cultural practices. Next, we’ll head to Miffis Mines to learn about their operations. Then, we’ll venture into the dunes for a refreshing cup of tea with local Bedouins. Your local guides will teach you how to mount and dismount camels and provide safety tips before embarking on a memorable camel trek through the Erg Chebbi desert.
