Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech by your driver/guide. You’ll travel through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains, crossing the 2,260 m high Tizi N’Tichka pass on your way to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This iconic kasbah, recognized since 1987, offers a glimpse into Morocco’s rich history. After exploring the kasbah, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” and stop for a photo opportunity near the Atlas Film Studios before heading to the center of town for views of the historic Taourirt Kasbah. Finally, you’ll proceed to Kalaa M’gouna and Boumalne Dades for your first night, where dinner and overnight accommodations await at a local hotel
After breakfast, set out towards Tinghir, with a panoramic stop to appreciate the stunning Dades Valley. Continue your journey to the magnificent Todra Gorges, renowned for its spectacular canyons. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the narrow valleys before taking a lunch break in Tinjdad. Next, head to Erfoud, famous for its fossil factories, before making your way to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, also known as Merzouga Dunes. Upon arrival, embark on a 90-minute camel trek to experience the sunset, surrounded by laughter and adventure. After your camel ride, you’ll arrive at a traditional nomadic camp for an overnight stay. Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Sahara Desert from a nearby dune, a sight you won’t want to miss. After a hearty breakfast and some time to freshen up, return to Merzouga on camelback. Your exploration of the Erg Chebbi begins as you visit tiny villages and the iconic Big Dune of Morocco. Drive along the historic route previously used for the “Paris-Dakar” rally and reach the black desert. Stop at a viewpoint to admire the expansive Erg Chebbi before continuing to Kamilia Village, home to descendants of Malian tribes. Here, enjoy a cup of tea while listening to a performance of traditional Gnawa music. Next, explore the abandoned village of Mefis, where you can learn about the lead and mineral mines from the French colonial era. Continue your journey to meet a local nomadic family living in tents, gaining insights into their lifestyle. Afterward, return to your accommodation for the afternoon to relax or explore the surrounding area before enjoying dinner and another night at the hotel
On your final day, begin with breakfast before heading north through the expansive Tafilalet palm grove, the largest in Morocco. Experience the beauty of thousands of palm trees along the 20 km stretch of road leading to Ziz Valley. Stop at a high viewpoint to marvel at the valley and the town of Aoufous. Take a break in Midelt, located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, for lunch and some rest. Afterward, continue through the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you may spot Barbary Apes along the roadside. Your journey continues to the picturesque city of Ifrane, often referred to as “the Moroccan Switzerland” due to its unique architecture, cleanliness, and green spaces, as well as its ski resort, Michlifen. By around 6 PM, you will arrive in Fes, where you’ll be transferred to your accommodation, marking the end of your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Marrakech to Merzouga distance is 560 Km. However, it will be split in two on the in with a night in Dades Valley. On the way back, you will spend the day driving to Marrakech.

 

Yes, they are. Your room in Dades Valley hotel will have private ensuite bathrooms.

 

It is roughly 1 hour for sunset and another hour for sunrise the following day. Time depends on season, Day light saving time, and sunset/sunrise time.

 

You can. a 4×4 will be offered to transfer you from Merzouga lodge to Erg Chebbi desert camp for an extra fee of 30 Euros ( Included in luxury tent option )

 

There will be a few sand boards available at the camp operator’s lodge to use at leisure ( Availability not guaranteed ). You can ask for one to take to the camp with you. They are free of charge
