In this valley, damascene roses are cultivated for cosmetic use, such as the highly valued rosewater. This valley is an important museum for Moroccan culture, and the Rose Festival is held annually here in May. After our visit to the Rose Valley, we’ll proceed to Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night at a hotel that overlooks the valley.
Embarking on day two of our 4-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour, we will fuel up with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before setting off towards the Todra Gorge. As we travel through the Berber villages and pass through Tinghir, we will be captivated by the stunning Todra valley filled with palm trees. Upon arriving at the Todra Gorges, which are renowned as one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in Morocco, we will take a short stroll through the grey and pink high canyons that can soar up to 300m. Our journey will then continue to Tinjdad and Touroug, where we will stop for lunch before proceeding to Erfoud – the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. The next stop on our itinerary will be Merzouga, which is home to the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, we will embark on an unforgettable experience as we take a camel ride for about one and a half hours towards our Nomadic Berber tents. Along the trek, we will pause in the middle of the dunes to admire the sunset, try sandboarding, capture some memorable photos and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. As night falls, we will arrive at the Berber camp Merzouga where we will be greeted with a refreshing glass of mint tea. Our evening will be filled with a sumptuous dinner, campfire, music party and an overnight stay in the heart of the dunes.
